BT Swim Team groups fit the needs of swimmers of all ages and ability levels. New swimmers are required to try out. Swimmers must be able to complete a lap of freestyle swimming in our 25-yard pool using the proper breathing technique. While we work on improving the strokes of all swimmers, this program does not include swim lessons.
Please email Coach Jimmy Parmenter at jimmy.parmenter@brownell.edu to schedule your evaluation. New swimmers will also need to provide Coach Parmenter a copy of their birth certificate by first practice.
Meet Expectations
BT Swim Team prepares swimmers to compete, and swimmers are expected to compete in all home meets once the coach feels that the athlete is ready. For away meets, swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate; however, it is not mandatory.
Age ranges are not absolute. Group descriptions are provided to give you a sense of our team’s structure and the path swimmers most likely follow as they move through our program.

Frequently Asked Questions About Meet Escrow Accounts
What is a meet escrow account?
This account holds a deposit used only to pay for your individual swimmer’s meet fees. This money is not owned by the team and will only be used to cover the costs of entering swimmers into meets for the year.
Families will be charged $50.00 per swimmer at the time of initial registration. Meet fees will be charged and deducted from the escrow account. We ask that you keep your meet escrow account monthly balance of $50.00 after the initial deposit. You can sign into your family’s online account at any time and add a “Top Up” fee to replenish your account.
How much does it cost to enter a meet?
Swim meet costs vary from meet to meet; however, regular specialty swim meets include the following fees per swimmer:
- Facility fee of $5.00 to $15.00
- Midwestern fee of $6.50
- Individual event fees between $3 to $7 per registered event.
How many meets does a Brownell Talbot swimmer enter per year?
Depending on the level of your swimmer; coaches try to average 1-2 swim meets per month for all swimmers.
What happens if we leave the team?
Should you desire to leave the team, all remaining money in your meet escrow account will be refunded to you.
What happens if the cost of the meets exceeds the dollar amount in the meet escrow account?
Meet fees in excess of the amount set aside in the meet escrow account will be billed to your account.
What happens to the account at the end of the year if all of the money in the account is not used? Is it refunded or rolled over into the next year?
Any money remaining in the account at the end of the season will be rolled over to the next season.
