Counselor-in-Training Program
Brownell Talbot's counselor-in-training (CIT) program is designed for rising ninth and tenth graders. This program is a leadership development program and targeted for those interested in gaining experience while making a positive impact on children. By acting as role models for young campers and assisting in leading aspects of the camp program, it is BT’s goal that our CITs walk away having learned new leadership skills, while having formed lasting memories with our campers.
Training Program
Mandatory pre-camp training takes place during session 1 of camp (June 13-17). CIT’s will learn basic leadership skills, first aid, camper age characteristics, conflict resolution, communication and collaboration, how to mentor young children, and much more.
Over the remaining four weeks of camp, CITs will improve their creativity and leadership skills, working with camp counselors and working together to plan the 2022 CIT all camp-event. During the majority of each day, CITs will work hands-on with campers. Each afternoon the CITS will participate in a mix of leadership development programs and job training.
While we would love to have our CIT’s for the entire summer, we understand that we need to be flexible. We ask that candidates make a commitment to attend two of the four remaining weeks of camp. You have the option to choose your weeks.
Become a CIT
Interested applicants should begin by completing a short application. After you have enrolled in the CIT program, you will receive an email directing you to the CIT application within Brownell Talbot’s Summer Camp account. When choosing CIT candidates, past performance, the application, and teacher/counselor references will be taken into consideration. To register for the CIT program, kindly use the “Register Now” button at the top of the page. Please note, the program registration fee includes the administration costs associated with the program including training, camp shirts, field trip fees, and any bus transportation. The fee will not be prorated for days unattended.
