Distance Learning

Brownell Talbot is committed to ensuring learning continues even during the most challenging circumstances. When we are in a distance learning mode, the information contained here, guides our practices.

Here you will find the channels we use to communicate with families; how we use technology purposefully and appropriately at every division level, resources to assist parents in guiding their children's learning, and updates regarding BT's travel policies and impacts to events. Thank you to our partners at international schools around the world for their help in creating this plan.

Here are some basic things to know about our distance learning plan:

  • We use Zoom as our synchronous online learning tool.
  • Distance learning takes many forms depending on grade level and subject area. These experiences may look and feel very different than a student’s typical in-class experience. Students may read books, work on independent projects, meet via video conference, watch online videos, write blogs, be asked to play games with family members, and so forth. BT has provided resources for families so that they know how best to support their children in their learning.
  • Functions like grading, assessment, attendance and homework may be different than the typical in-class framework. Teachers will share expectations around these topics with their students and families for each class or grade level.
  • BT knows that every family's access to resources at home is different. If you have specific concerns about your family’s access to online learning necessities like internet or devices, please reach out to techteam@brownell.edu with those concerns and we will follow up with you.

BT is a close, caring, and resilient community. With everyone's continuing support, our mission of knowing, inspiring, and challenging each student continues wherever we may be.
