On November 4, 1923, the cornerstone was placed in Worthington Hall and opened as the girls dormitory in 1924. It was named in honor of the Right Reverend George Worthington, second Episcopal Bishop of Nebraska. For 41 years, 1924-1965, many alumnae considered Worthington Hall their home for nine months of the year. One alumna from the class of 1949 shared, "we had to write home once a week, but we could go home once a month...In the end, I loved the atmosphere and meeting girlfriends for life."
