Did You Know: 10th and Worthington Street
megan.hunter

This postcard from 1906 shows St. Matthias Church (on the left) and Brownell Hall when they were located at 10th and Worthington Street. Brownell Hall moved to this location in 1886 under the direction of Bishop George Worthington, the newly appointed bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska. The land for the school was donated by Herman Kountze.

The St. Matthias Church building is now Dietz Memorial United Methodist Church and is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. The school moved away from this location in 1918 due to financial hardships associated with the United States entry to World War I.
