A letter from Father Loya:
I am excited to begin my third year as chaplain to the Brownell Talbot community. Our chapel program is grounded in the Episcopal Church’s tradition, and our goal is to welcome, affirm, and support the moral and spiritual development of students of all faith backgrounds.
This year in chapel, we will explore the spiritual foundations for a variety of important character traits, which include topics like integrity, courage, justice, and gratitude. We’ll also examine the lives of many different people whose faith has inspired them to make a positive difference in the world. We try to acknowledge the holidays of the religious traditions represented in the school community, and occasionally have guest speakers from those different traditions.
In all these ways, my hope is to challenge our students to be clear about their core beliefs and values, to understand themselves as citizens of a religiously diverse world, and to give them the tools to build strong character and habits for nurturing their inner lives. If you would like to know more about our chapel program, you are welcome to join us on any Tuesday. I am also very happy to meet with you to discuss any questions you might have. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at 402-209-2559. It is an extraordinary privilege to share in the work of knowing, challenging and inspiring students at BT.
