Student Uniforms

Brownell-Talbot students wear uniforms suitable to their school level. The specified dress code creates a sense of belonging, eliminates competition-based expensive dress or fads, and teaches neatness and propriety. Certain days are specified for full dress uniforms – blazers and ties – and occasional special days allow for casual attire.

Following is a complete description of the Lower School dress policy – kindergarten through fourth grade – for girls and boys:

Formal Dress Requirements

The formal uniform is required on weekly Chapel days (usually held on Tuesdays) and for special occasions as assigned (such as programs, picture day, etc.).

Items Required for Boys
  • Solid white long or short sleeve oxford dress shirt.
  • Solid navy trousers (corduroy acceptable, but not denim). A dark belt must be worn if pants have belt hoops.
  • Solid navy long sleeve pullover or cardigan v-neck sweater (no monogramming).
  • Black or brown leather shoes and navy socks (Topsiders and penny loafers are acceptable. Tennis shoes, athletic footwear, thongs, clogs, sandals or high tops are not acceptable).
Items Required for Girls

Dennis Uniform is carrying a new burgundy fleece outer jacket, suitable for Lower School students. This is for your information, but not a requirement. Please do not purchase jean or letter jackets for your child. Letter jackets are reserved for Upper School students.
