ACADEMIC ALL STATE
Congratulations to the following students in being named Academic All State for the Spring 2012 activities season.

Boys Golf — Senior Jonny Trinh
Journalism — Senior Britt Fossum and junior Emma Hussain
Music — Juniors Linda Liu and Ryan Segur
Boys Soccer — Freshman Pedro Castro
Girls Tennis — Senior Sammi Bray and junior Alison Brockman

DENISE DANTZLER GIRLS SOCCER PREP NOTABLE
Denise Dantzler was honored by the Omaha World-Herald as a prep notable for girls soccer. Dantzler scored 18 goals and had eight assists this season. She was the second leading scorer in Class B this season.  

ALL STAR BASKETBALL AND GOLF HONOREES
Five Brownell-Talbot students will participate in All-Star events this summer.  

Seniors Grace Bartels, Haley Mathews, and Zach Ehresman were selected to participate in the Fort Calhoun basketball All-Star game. The boys' and girls' games will be held  Saturday, June 30, at Fort Calhoun High School. Seniors from area small schools will be participating in the game. Former B-T Head Coach Mike Kroupa will serve as team coach for the girls' game.  

Seniors Sammi Bray and Kaitlyn Eastman were selected to participate in the Lions Club girls' golf All-Star tournament in Kearney at the end of June. Senior golfers from across the state of Nebraska will play in the event.  

GIRLS' TRACK TEAM WINS CONFERENCE/BOYS AND GIRLS COMPETE AT OAKLAND INVITE
The girls' track team won the Frontier Conference meet last week in Utica, scoring 148 points. Medalists for the meet follow.  

Senior Taylor White-Welchen — placed first in the 100 meter dash (12.8), first in the 200 meter dash (26.9), and third in the 300 meter hurdles (51.4).  

Senior Haley Mathews — placed second in shot put (34'11"), sixth in discus (89'9"), third in the 400 meter dash (1:07), and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (54.0).

Senior Nicole Vazquez-Chanlatte — placed sixth in the 400 meter dash (1:11).  

Junior Arielle Bloemer — placed second in the 3200 meter run (19:18) and fifth in the 1600 meter run (9:03).

Junior Lydia Schieuer — placed sixth in the 1600 meter run (9:20).  

Junior Aisha Yapp — placed first in triple jump (32'3"), second in long jump (14'2"), and third in the 200 meter dash (29.1). 

Sophomore Mercedes Kent — placed sixth in triple jump (28'1"), fifth in the 100 meter dash (13.9), and third in the 100 meter hurdles (17.8).  

Freshman Kenzi Larkin — placed second in the high jump (4'4").  

Freshman Anji Murthy — first place in 3200 meter run (18:38) and third in 1600 meter run (7:53).  

Freshman Diamonde O'Connor — fourth place in high jump (4'0"), fifth in triple jump (29'3"), and third in the 3200 meter run (19:23).  

Girls 400 meter relay — placed first.  Relay members were Kent, Vazquez-Chanlatte, Yapp, and White-Welchen (54.9).  

Girls 1600 meter relay — placed third.  Members were Vazquez-Chanlatte, Larkin, Murthy, and freshman Megan Harrell (5:17).  

Girls 3200 meter relay — placed second.  Members were Murthy, Bloemer, Larkin, and Schieuer (14:41).  

The girls' team placed sixth among 12 teams at the Oakland-Craig invite last Thursday.

White-Welchen — placed first in the 100 meter dash (12.7), second in the 200 (27.3), and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (50.9).  

Mathews — placed fourth in the shot put (35'9).

Yapp — fourth place in the triple jump (32'4").

Kent — third place in the 100 meter hurdles (16.9).  

Girls 400 relay — placed fourth with a time of 54.2.  Members were senior Jennifer Coccia, Kent, Yapp, and White-Welchen. 

The boys team placed third overall scoring 96 points. Results follow.

Senior Ruben Zendejas — fourth place 800 meter run (2:16) and fifth place 1600 meter run (5:41).  

Junior NK Ibemesi — fifth place shot put (38'8") and fifth place in discus (100'9").  

Sophomore Arlie Myers — second place in 100 meter dash (11.6), first place long jump (20'1"), and fourth place triple jump (35'9").  

Freshman Dylan Burkley — fifth place in high jump (5'2"), fourth place in long jump (17'2"), and sixth

Freshman Jordan Kerrey — sixth place 100 meter dash (11.9), fourth place 200 meter dash (24.5), and fifth place 400 meter dash (58.9).  

Freshman Jordan Proby — third place 200 meter dash (24.2) and second place 400 meter dash (56.4).  

Freshman Drew Ketterson — sixth place 400 meter dash (59.1).  

Sophomore Stephen Knofczynski — sixth place 3200 meter run (13:53).  

Junior Andrew Chen — fourth place 110 meter hurdles (19.5), fourth place 300 meter hurdles (47.4), and fifth place in triple jump (34'8").  

Freshman Jon Vrana — sixth place 110 meter hurdles (19.8) and sixth place 300 meter hurdles (51.2).  

Boys 400 meter relay — placed second.  Members were Myers, Proby, junior Lorenzo Rivera, and Kerrey (47.5).

Boys 1600 meter relay — placed fourth.  Members were freshman Dylan Witt, Burkley, sophomore Will Haskell, and Vrana (4:32)

Boys 3200 meter relay — placed first.  Members were senior Zach Ehresman, Proby, junior Max Buls, and Zendejas (9:33).  

The boys' team placed fifth among 12 teams at the Oakland-Craig invite last Thursday.

Myers — first place in the long jump (20'2") and third in 100 meter dash (11.9).

Ibemesi — third place in shot put (41'10").

Burkley — sixth place in the triple jump (37'4") and sixth in high jump (5'4").

Kerrey — sixth place in the 200 meter dash (24.3).  

Proby — sixth place in 400 meter dash (54.9) and fifth in the 200 meter dash (24.3).  

400 meter relay — third place with a time of 46.7.  Members were Myers, Proby, Vrana, and Kerrey.  

1600 meter relay — placed sixth with a time of 4:02.  Members were Ehresman, Zendejas, Kerrey, and Proby. 

DISTRICT MUSIC UPDATE
Junior Linda Liu and freshman Charlotte Hedican earned a perfect ballot and an Outstanding Performance Award for their vocal duet at Districts in Yutan on April 20. 

SOCCER TEAM END SEASON IN DISTRICTS
The girls' soccer team lost 5-1 to Mercy in District play last week.  B-T's Denise Dantzler, a junior,  scored the lone goal for the team. The girls finished the season with an 8-9 record. Other Brownell-Talbot athletes participating this year included sophomores Chloe Dana and Hannah Emery.  

The boys' soccer team lost 5-1 to Elkhorn in Districts last week. The boys team ended the season with 2-13 record. Brownell athletes on the varsity team this year were Pedro Castro, Erik Kulp, and Danny Miller. Other Brownell-Talbot athletes who participated this year included freshman Danny Miller, junior Michael Zhong, and freshmen Carvaggio Caniglia and Powers Dicus.  


GIRLS TENNIS DEFEATS RONCALLI
The girls tennis team defeated Roncalli 8-1 last Tuesday.  
No. 1 doubles senior Sammi Bray and freshman Sadie Rich won 8-3.
No. 2 doubles senior Talia Simon and junior Alison Brockman won 8-2.
No. 3 doubles senior Britt Fossum and sophomore Leslie Atkinson won 8-4.  
No. 1 singles Bray won her match 8-2.
No. 2 singles Rich won 8-1.  
No. 4 singles Fossum won 9-7.
No. 5 singles Simon won 8-3.
No. 6 singles Atkinson won 8-0.  
The girls participated in the Bellevue East tennis tourney which took place in April.  
No. 1 doubles team of Bray and Rich went 3-1 at the invite. The team defeated Omaha Burke (8-1), Gross (8-1), and Bellevue West (8-2).  

BOYS' GOLF RESULTS
B-T competed in the Roncalli Invite last week, placing fourth overall (291). Sophomore Tyler Ehresman placed fourth with a 66. Sophomore David Rich placed 12th with a 73. Other scores included senior Saif Shah – 76, senior Jonny Trinh – 76, junior Dustin Waggoner – 78, and sophomore David Bakos – 80.  

The boys played at the Skutt/Gross/Elkhorn/-T quadrangular last week. The boys placed fourth with the following individual scores: Ehresman – 45, Rich – 47, Bakos – 55, Trinh – 58, and Shah – 63.
