Fourteen Brownell-Talbot students competed in the Iowa Western Community College 11th annual Math Day.
Brownell-Talbot competed against 28 other schools in Division B and students were divided by age.
The team of Angie Murthy, ’15, David Bakos, ’14, and David Karimi, ’14, won its first two rounds and lost its third.
The team of Caravaggio Caniglia, ’15, Arlie Myers, ’14, and Jessica Zhou ’14, placed third, earning bronze medals.
Both the junior and senior teams won their first several rounds but then the junior team of Linda Liu, Andrew Chen, Alison Brockman, and Michael Zhong lost a round sending them to the consolation bracket.
They won earning a spot in the finals where they faced the Brownell-Talbot senior team of Jonny Trinh, Jay Li, Zach Ehresman, and Josh Cohen.
The seniors prevailed and took first place and the gold medal with the silver to the juniors.
