Upper School Uniform
BOYS - FORMAL DRESS*
Shirt: Traditional white oxford cloth dress shirt.
Pants: Solid gray dress pants (single stitched side seam). Belts are required.
Coat, Tie, and Shoes: Traditional navy blazer, necktie, dark socks, and black or brown leather dress shoes. A traditional navy sweater (v-neck or crewneck only) may be worn under the blazer on formal dress days.
GIRLS - FORMAL DRESS*
Blouse: Traditional white oxford cloth blouse.
Skirt: Brownell-Talbot plaid skirt purchased from Dennis Uniform Co. or Educational Outfitters.
Blazer, Hosiery, Shoes: Traditional navy blazer, solid navy knee-high socks, tights, or nylons, and black or brown leather dress shoes. A traditional navy sweater (v-neck or crewneck only) may be worn under the blazer on formal dress days. School approved scarves, in individual House colors, may be worn as part of the formal and regular uniform.
*Formal Dress: Formal dress is to be worn on scheduled or announced formal dress days or during special School events. Formal dress day begins the first Tuesday of the school year and continues every Tuesday thereafter.
BOYS - REGULAR SCHOOL DRESS
Shirts: A collared shirt is required as part of the daily uniform. Solid white or light blue long or short sleeve traditional button-down oxford cloth dress shirts or a polo shirt with the Brownell-Talbot logo in white, banded white, or dark green purchased from Dennis Uniform Co., Educational Outfitters, or Lands’ End. Seniors may purchase the black shirt option from Dennis Uniform or Educational Outfitters. Any undershirts worn under a School uniform shirt must be a solid color (white preferred) and not display any writing or logo that is visible through the uniform shirt. ALL non-banded shirts must be tucked into pants and shorts.
Pants: Traditional solid gray, khaki, or navy pants or shorts. (No cargo-style pants.) Belts are required for all pants.
Sweaters: Traditional solid navy or gray long-sleeve crewneck or v-neck single knit pullover sweater.
Sweatshirts: Any official Brownell-Talbot School sweatshirt sold by B-T or the Boosters.
- Any official Brownell-Talbot sweatshirt with a School imprint may be worn over the required collared shirt/blouse.
Shoes/Socks: Shoes — see below; Solid white, navy, gray, or black socks.
GIRLS - REGULAR SCHOOL DRESS
Blouses: A collared shirt/blouse is required as part of the daily uniform. Solid white or light blue long or short sleeve traditional button-down oxford cloth dress shirts or a Brownell-Talbot polo shirt in white, banded white, or dark green purchased from Dennis Uniform Co., Educational Outfitters, or Lands’ End. Seniors may purchase the black shirt option from Dennis Uniform or Educational Outfitters. Any undershirts worn under a School uniform shirt must be a solid color (white preferred) and not display any writing or logo that is visible through the uniform shirt. ALL non-banded shirts must be tucked into pants, skirts, or shorts.
Skirts: Brownell-Talbot plaid or solid navy skirt. Navy gabardine skirt or skorts from Dennis Uniform Co., Lands End (plaid not available), or Educational Outfitters are acceptable. Skirts /skorts must be an appropriate length which demonstrates a modest appearance.
Slacks: Traditional navy or khaki plain front or pleated slacks may be worn during the second and third quarters except on formal uniform days. (No cargo-style pants.)
Sweaters: Traditional solid navy or red long-sleeve crewneck or v-neck single knit pullover sweater.
Sweatshirts: Any official Brownell-Talbot School sweatshirt sold by B-T or the Boosters.
- Any official Brownell-Talbot sweatshirt with a School imprint may be worn over the required collared shirt/blouse.
Shoes/Socks: Shoes — see below. If worn, socks, tights, or nylons must be solid white, black, or navy colored (no patterns). School approved socks, in individual House colors/styles, may be worn on designated days as part of the regular uniform.
BOYS AND GIRLS REGULAR SCHOOL DRESS
Shoes: Brown or black leather shoes of the traditional lace-up or loafer design are acceptable. Sandals and athletic-tennis shoes of any color, or open-toed shoes are not allowed. Boots may be allowed by announcement during inclement weather.
Optional Warm Weather Wear: Traditional Bermuda style navy or khaki shorts (no cargo-style shorts) must be purchased from Dennis Uniform Co., Educational Outfitters, or Lands’ End, and may be worn during August, September, May, and June. The shorts are to be worn with the uniform shirt and School approved socks.
Outerwear: All outerwear is to be stored in the student’s locker during the school day. Coats and jackets are not to be worn in the classroom, lunchroom, or study halls. Students may wear a coat between buildings.
Clothing must be neat, clean, and in good repair. Items of apparel or accessories not included in the official description of the dress requirements as stated above are not allowed. This includes oversize clothing or styles of clothing that do not fit properly. All clothing should be tagged with the student’s name.
Any decision regarding the acceptability of School uniform items will be at the sole discretion of the School administration.
