This year is unique because we have both an Annual Campaign and a Capital Campaign underway at the same time.

The Annual Sustaining Campaign is directed to parents, alumni, Trustees, grandparents, Faculty/Staff, and friends. Your gift enables us to provide a rich and varied curriculum, comprehensive athletic programs, extracurricular activities, exciting field trips, fine arts emphasizing music, art, speech and theater, financial aid, and support for the faculty. Tuition income covers 84 percent of the expenses needed to operate the school; 16 percent must be raised in contributions from supporters. This year we must raise $612,000 over and above tuition income to satisfactorily fund the 2006-2007 general operating budget.

The general operating budget does not include funds needed to undertake large, long-term projects which may include major renovation projects and/or new construction, programming, and personnel.

What began as an opportunity to enhance physical fitness for Upper School students has expanded to a program with important implications for each child beginning at age three. The new $3 million capital campaign - lifeTRACKS - will address practical life skills relevant to all areas of personal health and wellness, renovate existing physical education spaces, add curriculum and personnel, and construct a 4,000 square foot fitness facility featuring both strength training and cardiovascular exercise areas. To date $1.75 of the $3 million necessary to complete this project had been raised in gifts and pledges.

This year we are asking Brownell-Talbot families and friends to stretch their giving to include support for both the Annual Sustaining Campaign and the lifeTRACKS Capital Campaign. All gifts are 100 percent tax deductible. Contributions to the Annual Sustaining Campaign are welcome through June 30, 2007. Pledges made to the lifeTRACKS Campaign may be paid over the next two years.
