Board Meeting Minutes
Friday, March 7, 2008
Members Present: Danna Grinnell, Travis Lockyer, Leslie Allbery, Sandy Bleicher, Bill Harrell, and Liz Moore
The meeting commenced at 8:45 a.m.
We are ready for District Speech. The pizza has been ordered and doughnuts are ready. The hospitality room is also ready.
Leslie Alberry motioned that we allot $200 to the costs of lobby decorations and refreshments for this year’s spring musical. The motion carried.
Sandy Bleicher presented the awards banquet invitation. Still to be finalized is the cover page. In the past, Tom Kerr has done the date change. Danna will call Tom to see if we can get his help for this year. Also to be finalized is the RSVP card. We would like to add a line that allows for a donation along with a negative RSVP. The cost will be around $15 per person. We still need photos for the DVD!
Travis Lockyer reported that we may go to state for speech this year. He asked if we could consider getting a coach bus again this year. The team does need to travel to the meet the night before, so travel between the hotel and the venue needs to be considered. Travis will look into options, and the board can meet to vote separately if needed.
Danna reported that merchandise is low on t-shirts and hoodies. We have one more conference this year, and we made about $1000 at the last one. We also need to stock for the back to school picnic. A pre-order form was in the newsletter for select merchandise. This was meant to generate sales; not stock.
We have a new vendor who supplies many of the large area schools. They consulted with Danna on the best selling styles. We will have order forms available at conferences for the same pre-ordered items; samples will be displayed.
The next meeting is March 4, 2008 at 8:30 a.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
