Brownell-Talbot junior Jacob Bredthauer earned a perfect 36 on the ACT which he took in February. Of 4,000 Nebraska students who took the test on Februrary 11, he is the only one to achieve a perfect score.

Congratulations to the 35 members of the Class of 2006. The median ACT score for the class was 27. The students have a cumulative gpa of 3.41 (through the fall 2005 semester). The top 34 percent have a cumulative gpa of 3.99 or higher.

The 35 members of the Brownell-Talbot Class of 2006 will graduate on Saturday, May 27, 2006.
The celebration begins at 9:45 a.m. with baccalaureate in the Swanson Auditorium followed immediately with the commencement ceremony in the school's Suzanne and Walter Scott Jr. Gymnasium.

Brownell-Talbot's girls' track team proved their abilities once again during the 2006 State Track Meet, tying for second place in Class C and taking second in All-Class Gold behind Class A team Millard North.
This is a substantial accomplishment for the four young women who carried the team through the meet.

Brownell-Talbot School will introduce a unique, comprehensive personal health and life skills program during a celebration to break ground on a new facility at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.
The program, called lifeTRACKS, has two phases. Phase one is the construction of a $1.8 million, 4,000 square-foot fitness center adjoining the south side of the Walter and Suzanne Scott, Jr., Gymnasium. It is scheduled to open on October 1, 2006.

The Nebraska School Activities Association and US Bank have selected B-T senior Alex Drvol as one of 48 "Believers & Achievers" for the 2006-2007 school year.
This student recognition program honors students who achieve a high level of academic success, participate in NSAA sponsored activities, and help their schools and communities.

Fifteen Brownell-Talbot students earned AP Scholar Awards based on their outstanding academic performance in AP courses during the 2005-2006 school year.
Jacob Bredthauer was named a Scholar with Distinction having earned an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grade of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Caroline Terry and Alicia Bones, members of the Class of 2006, also received this award.

Congratulations to Mark Mercier, '07, who was honored for the second time as an alternate tenor for the All-State Chorus and Keshav Rao '08 who was honored for the second year in a row as the alternate baritone saxophone for the All-State Jazz Band.
Three students were also selected for participation in the All-State Chorus: soprano Kathryn Coccia, '08, who was an alternate last year, alto Blair MacDonald, '08, and baritone Jacob Bredthauer '07, who was also selected in 2004.

Congratulations to the Brownell-Talbot Raiders Academic Decathlon team for winning the State Championship February 17!
Mr. Michael Sullivan, team coach, said, "It's impossible to tell you how excited students and parents were on Saturday when we took this State Championship. We can be very, very proud of our students. They performed with unparalleled excellence and were gracious in victory."

Brownell-Talbot Students faired exceedingly well at the 2007 Metro Science and Engineering Fair held at the University of Omaha at Nebraska recently.
In the Junior Division, two B-T Middle School students competed against more than 80 other entries. Both placed in the top five, earning Grand Prizes.
In the Senior Division, four B-T students competed againts 40 entries. All four students placed in the top five, earning Grand Prizes.

Congratulations to the State Championship Yakking Raiders speech team which earned its first state championship trophy in March. Of 11 events qualifying for the tournament, 10 earned medals, including two individual championships.
Steven Balters, ’07, won the state championship in serious prose. Madison Grinnell, ’08, won the state championship in extemporaneous speaking.
The team scored 160 points overall, well above the 102 which earned Hartington its runner-up trophy.

October 8-12 is Homecoming Week! Each day of the week is a Spirit Day in which students can dress to the particular theme. In addition to the Spirit days, the Scholastic Book Fair, the Chili Supper/Bonfire, Grandparents' Day, the Homecoming Dance, and Alumni Activities are scheduled.

| Volleyball Season Ends |

The Raider volleyball team ended its season last night in a loss in the first round of the sub-districts versus Lyons-Decatur. They lost 0-3 to finish the season 13-14. In comparison to last year, the team only had 8 wins. Many great things happened this year and it was a strong foundation into next year as the program continues to build. The seniors will be dearly missed as they have contributed so much to this program.

On Saturday, the Lady Raider cheerleader travelled to Grand Island to compete in the first ever Nebraska state cheerleading championship. After countless morning practices every week, all their hard work paid off as they are the class C/D state runners-up in the Non-Tumbling division! On Monday the Brownell speech team competed in the C-2-1 district speech meet hosted by Brownell. With a trip to state on the line, the Yakking Raiders stepped up and defended their title as district champion.

| Yakking Raiders Back to Back State Champions |

Wednesday, March 19th the Brownell speech team competed in the state speech competition in Kearney. Going into finals, Brownell and Hartington were separated by Brownell having only one more person in the final round. As the team has done all year, they rose to the occasion and after it was all over, Brownell walked away with a back to back state championship by over 50 points. Brownell will also add four more individuals to its wall of champions.

After a fabulous regular season, the Roncalli/Brownell baseball team found themselves in an elimination game Tuesday at state. With Alex Terry pitching, the team faced Pius X. Although Alex pitched well and Drew Mathews was able to get some hits as the designated hitter, the team lost 3-1. They end their season 17-4. Alex was undefeated as a pitcher in the regular season. Congratulations on a great season.
