Lower School: Curriculum

From the moment your child enters Brownell-Talbot School as a preschooler, he or she is immersed in a rich learning environment.

This is just the beginning of the lifelong learning process of each student. The curriculum is designed to offer a unique and successful experience for all children.

Knowledgeable, caring teachers are at the heart of the Lower School. Teachers encourage students to work to their potential and grow in confidence by providing individualized attention in smaller class sizes. Beginning with the teaching of foreign language in preschool, students will receive a solid foundation on which to build their future success.

A challenging curriculum in the language arts, math, and social studies is taught in self-contained classrooms. STAR teachers, who specialize in art, computer technology, foreign language, music, physical education, and science, teach students in grades JK through four.

We offer an extended care program, called Delights, before and after school for students in preschool through grade four. The program complements the regular school day by providing your child a variety of enrichment activities. The schedule for Delights is Monday through Friday from 7:00 - 8:00 in the morning and after preschool dismisses until 6:00 p.m.
