CodeCrush Immersion Experiences were created to show eighth and ninth grade girls and their mentoring teachers the world of IT. For three days and four nights, the UNO College of Information Science and Technology inspired girls and their teachers to take a deeper look at IT through hands-on experiences with emerging IT fields such as bioinformatics, IT innovation, music technology and cybersecurity.

Out of the 136 applicants across three states, BT had three students selected to fill three of the 32 available attendee spots: Amal Imran, '21, and Grayson Shirey, '21, and Aishani Srikumar, '21. Mr. Uchtman attended the event with the girls.

The girls were able to check out IT departments of global corporations, meet women professionals who are engaged in IT, and visit the technology in use at local attractions like the Henry Doorly Zoo. The days were packed with classes, dinners with IS&T students, staff and faculty, panel discussions with women in the field, as well as lunch with a IT mentors.
